From its beginning in 1869 United Methodist Women has focused on ministries with women, children, and youth.
Menominee’s United Methodist Women meet the second Tuesday evening in February, April, May, September, and November with other activities in between. We welcome all ladies! You do not have to be a member of the church to attend our meetings.
The United Methodist Women’s Purpose states: United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
- 1869: 8 women
- Today: 800,000 members
United Methodist Women inherits the vision and toil of women’s missionary societies of eight denominations since 1869. Its 150-year legacy started when the Woman’s Foreign Missionary Society first organized in Boston in response to a lack of women’s health in India.
The entire program and organization of United Methodist Women focuses on mission. Our mission initiatives include:
- Providing opportunities to grow spiritually
- Equipping women & girls to be leaders
- Providing transformative educational experiences
- Organizing for growth & flexibility
- Working for justice through service & advocacy
